“But I’m Not Creative…” I hear you say (Yes, You Are!)

“But I’m scared of the blank page…!” (It isn’t blank!)

That’s the whole point of my free doodle therapy printables – I’m giving you a safe place to grow your creativity.

That’s the creativity I know you have

And I absolutely do know you are creative.

So, how do I know this? Well, I’d bet anything that at some point you’ve absentmindedly doodled on the corner of a notepad while chatting on the phone.

And that, my friend, is your suppressed creativity quietly sneaking out when yout attention is elsewhere.

In fact, while your conscious mind is stuck listening to that dreadful hold music from customer service, your subconscious is busy slipping in a little burst of creativity.

It leaks from your right brain into your hand which draws lots of lines, twirls, repetitive patterns and squiggles.

Some people do this in meetings or when daydreaming.

So if you have ever done this – you are creative and your creative side is dying to come out to play.

Informal doodling therapy is exactly what supressed creatives need to get off the starting grid.

Sadly, too many people are afraid to express their creative side because of a false belief that you have to be ‘good’ at art to dabble in it.

My free doodling therapy printable with a neurographic feel to it is your perfect starting point to combat this belief and ignite your creative spark.

So enough of the “I’m not creative” nonsense!

Do you ever look at a blank page and feel intimidated by it?

No idea where to start?

Well, when you began an absentminded doodle the last time you were on the phone, were you worried about ‘where to start’?

No, your hand just started moving because you weren’t thinking about it.

The good news is that creativity isn’t something you either have or don’t have – it’s something you can grow.

And doodling therapy is one of the easiest, most fun ways to begin.

These are the doodles I did on the free printable – you can see I changed the colour of the design in Photoshop as well.

To make it as non threatening as possible to get started, I created this free printable doodling aid designed to help you get started without fear of the blank page.

Whether you’re brand new to drawing or just want a little spark of inspiration, this printable gives you a structure that takes the pressure off and lets your creativity flow naturally.

Let’s explore how doodling therapy can unlock your creativity, why it works even if you don’t think you’re “artistic,” and how to use your free printable to begin today.

Why Doodling is the perfect for finding your creativity spark

When you’ve absentmindedly drawn squiggles, shapes, or little flowers in the corner of a notebook, congratulations – you have doodled!

And whether you realized it or not, your brain was quietly doing something amazing, something it craves doing – being creative.

Here’s why Doodling therapy is so powerful:

  • No rules, no pressure.

Unlike painting a portrait or writing a formal essay doodling has no “wrong” way to do it.
  • It potentially lowers stress.

The repetitive, freeform motion calms your nervous system and gives your mind a break.
  • It wakes up creativity.
Doodling engages your imagination without demanding perfection, which makes it easier for new ideas to surface.
  • Anyone can do it.

You don’t need talent, training, or special supplies—just pens and paper.

In other words, doodling is creativity’s low-stakes doorway to art and creation.

With doodling therapy, you get all the fun without any of the fear.

Overcoming the fear of the blank page with my free doodling therapy design.

The hardest part of starting something creative is often that first step – facing a blank page.

Staring at emptiness can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve convinced yourself you’re “not creative.”

That’s where my free doodling printable can make all the difference.

Instead of a stark white page, you’re greeted with colour, patterns, and gentle structures that invite your pen to move.

You’re not starting from zero with doodling therapy – you’re joining in on something already in motion.

Think of it like learning to ride a bike with training wheels.

The printable gives you support so you can focus on enjoying the ride.

Introducing Your Free Doodling therapy Printable

I designed this free doodle aid in neurograpic style, to help you bypass that scary blank page and jump straight into creative flow.

You can build on this design however you like.

All you need are black markers like these in the picture below in different tip sizes.

Fine liner pens with various size tips

I got these ones from The Range in the UK for only a few pounds but you can find fineliner sets on Amazon as well.

For your convenience, I have found some sets for your. Click the relevant links below.

Please read my Amazon Affiliate statement here because I do get a teeny commission if you buy anything from my links.

These are just suggestions as I have not used these specific pens – so please do your research.

When starting doodling therapy, you can use the lines that are already in the design to trace over and practice moving your hand along them.

The lines can be thickened in places and you can create curves at the line junctions in typical neurographic art style.

Have fun seeing how many variations you can draw over the round dots of the stamens.

If you are unsure what I mean, watch out my doodling therapy video on YouTube to see how I doodled on this design.

My video is now live on YouTube so you can see how I did my doodling on this free printable.

There is plenty of scope to let your imagination wander, expand, and make the page your own.

And if you have an app such as Canva, Photoshop, Procreate or Affinity Designer, you can even change the colour of the printable.

This printable isn’t about “doing it right.”

With doodling therapy, there is no right or wrong way – you can even simply scribble if you want to!

It’s about giving you a playful structure so you can relax and discover what your creativity feels like in action.

This free design is over on my Google Drive where all my free printables live.

How to Use the free Doodling Therapy Printable

Here’s a simple step-by-step way to make the most of your doodle printable:

1 Print it.
You can use whatever paper you like but I like to use the one pictured below. It’s called layout paper and it is ultra thin. It’s only 50gsm but will go through a printer with no problem. Why do I like this thin paper? Well, I do collage in my art journals and this paper is perfect for that. It is more delicate than normal copy paper. So you could tear up your doodles and get into collage with them – another way to be creative!

You can find this layout pad here for the UK and here for the USA. Please read my Amazon Affliate statement here.

2 Grab a black pen – no fancy art supplies needed for doodling therapy.
I keep a simple set of black markers by me for doodling. The tips range in size from 0.01mm to 4.0mm. A selection of tip sizes from tiny to bigger gives you more creative scope.

3 Set the mood for relaxation.
I like to play soothing music, have a cup of tea and find a comfy spot to sit. Sometimes I play rock music – it depends on my mood.

4 Pick a starting point.
Just start any old where on the design – it doesn’t matter. I print off two or three sheets so I can rehearse squiggles and designs on one sheet and then repeat them on the ‘best’ sheet when I feel ready. But you do whatever works for you.

5 Let your hand move.
Thicken the thin lines in places, add curves at line junctions, add patterns, squiggles, swirls or even words without worrying about how it looks. Fill the page slowly, there’s no rush. Even a few minutes a day makes a difference.

6 Notice how you feel after a doodling session.
You might feel calmer, lighter, or more focused after just a short doodling session.

The printable is there to guide you—but the magic comes from the marks you make.

The Benefits You’ll Notice

Even a few minutes of doodling with this printable can lead to surprising shifts:

  • Less stress:
Your mind slows down and your body relaxes.
  • More focus:
Doodling keeps your attention gently anchored, perfect for quieting distractions.
  • A creativity spark:
Ideas start flowing once you give yourself permission to play.
  • A sense of accomplishment:
Completing even one page feels satisfying, proof that you can create!

There is that cry again… “But I’m Not Creative…”

And my very loud response… (Yes, You Are!)

Here’s the truth – everyone is creative.

Creativity isn’t about being able to draw perfectly or paint like Picasso.

It’s about expressing yourself.

If you’ve ever:

  • Put together an outfit,
  • Cooked a meal from scratch,
  • Rearranged your living room, or
  • Thought of a new way to do something…

…you’ve already used creativity a gazillion times in your life.

Doodling is just another channel for it, one that’s playful and judgment-free.

So if you’ve been telling yourself “I’m not creative,” it’s time to let go of that belief.

This printable is here to show you that you already are.

Want to make doodling therapy a regular part of your life? Try these easy tips:

  • Keep your printable handy. Put it somewhere visible so it invites you to pick up a pen.
  • Doodle in small bursts. Even five minutes while waiting for your coffee can spark creativity.
  • Make it personal. Add words, patterns, or little symbols that mean something to you.
  • Celebrate progress. Print off a fresh one each week and then flip back through filled pages as you complete them – you’ll see your creativity growing.( I will be putting new designs up each week as well so subscribe here and you won’t miss them.)

See doodling therapy as a gateway to bigger creativity.

Once you start with doodling, you may find yourself curious about other forms of creative play.

Maybe you’ll try journaling, painting, collage or even neurographic art (a mindful style of doodling that looks like a web of organic lines).

You can see lots of examples of neurographic style art online – click here to start looking.

The key is that doodling helps you loosen up and quiet that inner critic, making it easier to branch into other creative activities without fear.

Ready to Begin?

Creativity doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the help of this simple printable, you can bypass the fear of the blank page and dive straight into playful expression.

Remember – you don’t have to be an artist. You just have to begin.
