Alcohol ink hack – why on earth would you need one?
Well, alcohol inks are very expensive and as us arty people can never have enough colours, we need them all!
And at £4 to £5 per 14ml bottle, the cost can really mount up.
And let’s face it, when we are playing around with a new medium, we want every color available.
Also, as if expensive inks aren’t enough, we also need a special surface, called Yupo paper, to use them on.
In my last couple of videos, I showed you a hack for using practically any paper or card with alcohol inks.

So with an easy alcohol ink paper hack sorted out, I started thinking about an alcohol ink hack.
Could I think of one? And the answer was yes – the technique I show in the video was right in front of me all the time.
So I made a video showing how quick and easy it was to create beautiful alchohol ink paintings without any ink.
You will need some blending solution but that’s not too expensive in the grand scheme of things.
There is some in my Amazon shops.
I did the ink hack on small art cards.
The cards are 3.5 inches x 2.5 inches So they weren’t suitable for scanning and making into A4 free printables.
So instead, I created a free printable especially for this project and I tried to make the colors similar to the ones in the video.
I tried to simulate an alcohol ink look with a few patterns thrown in and this was what I came up with.
Believe it or not, this pendant was made with a shape cut from the design on the left. The color looks different but it’s just the way the images have come out online – always a bit hit and miss. I’ll drop the link below where you can get this design to download and print off to use in your own crafts.

Please make sure you observe strict safety procedures when using alcohol blending solution.
It is highly flammable. A flash fire can occur from the fumes in the air.
You need very good ventilation and ideally, you need to wear a vapour mask to protect your respiratory tract.
I know from experience that sloppy use of anything to do with alcohol inks can make you feel really ill.
As long as you practice safe use and follow the maufacturers advice, you will be fine.
