It’s surprising how stong cereal box card can be. 

You can make robust pendant bezels with it very quickly and then turn them into cool fashion jewelry.

It’s really pretty easy and you can produce lots of gorgeous pendants to sell at craft fairs.

However, you must of course finish them neatly and professionally.

My reasons for using cereal box card  are about using what I see as a precious craft resource.

If you’ve read this blog before, you’ll probably already know how much I love up-cycling cereal box card.

There must be tons and tons of this card going into landfill every day. And yet people go into craft shops every day to buy expensive materials to craft with.

Way back, I discovered that glueing layers of cereal box card with PVA glue, creates a resource like lightweight wood.

In lots of projects, I use cereal box card for making things you wouldn’t guess are made from ‘rubbish”.

But you can use cereal box card for lots of other crafts. Another of my favourite ways of using it is for scrap book album covers.

Over the years I have created many handmade albums using cereal boxes for the covers.

They sold well at craft fairs, this red album below is one I have been writing notes in for years.

Over time, I have also made many pretty pieces of jewelry using cereal box card.

I am forever dreaming up new ways to create stunning designs.

The idea for the latest make on my YouTube Chanel came to me in a flash of inspiration.

I was clearing out my stash of junk resources at the time.

I’m sure I’m not the only crafter who hoards all sorts of stuff that will ‘come in handy’ for crafting.

Bins stuffed full of flattened cereal boxes graced my crafting space.

Also, brochures printed on paper way too good to throw away alongside discarded wrapping paper.

And then there’s the paper bags, gift bags – all sorts of ‘stuff’.

I was constantly dipping into my boxes for ‘free’ stuff to use in my projects.

However, I lost my studio space in 2020.

We needed to make way to have my mum come and live with us.

My old studio was be turned into a bedroom and sitting room so my mum could still have some independence.

Update – Sadly, my mum passed in 2022 at age 94 after two years with us.

But it had been really good for me to lose that space.

It forced me to have a clear-out of all my craft stuff and make me reassess it.

All the obscure stuff I probably would never use, went as I only had room to store half of it.

It was while I was going through my stash of junk that I had this pendant idea. 

One of my many bins of cereal box card used fior all sorts of crafting ideas.

Ideas for my next YouTube project started bouncing around inside my head.

Then I found something else in the box  that started me thinking and the idea for these pendants hit me.

I found what would become the ‘lead’ for my faux stained glass design.

Being swamped in junk was annoying because once I’d had the idea, I wanted to get on with it!

I wasn’t really sure it would work – even when I was almost at the end of the project.

Then, when I started actually putting the parts together, I was really pleased with how they looked.
